SCI FI Announces the Final Cast of Taken
20 March, 2002
Casting has been finalized on SCI FI's 20 hour epic miniseries. Final additions to the cast include Matt Frewer (Max Headroom), Desmond Harrington (We Were Soldiers), James McDaniel (NYPD Blue) with Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam) in the pivotal role of the young Allie.
The production is in the midst of it's seventh month of production in Vancouver. It will premiere in December 2002 over ten straight nights. The mini was written by Leslie Bohem (Dante's Peak, Twenty Bucks).
The miniseries ties together the stories of three generations and fifty years of close encounters. Allie serves as it's voice, a young girl at the core of the story. It starts in France during World War II and continues through 1977 Close Encounters of the Third Kind fueled tales of alien abduction. In the present day, three families have to come together and unravel the mystery behind it all.
