Roswell
The honeymoon at La Jolla gets juicy for Isabel when Kivar decides to befriend the newlyweds. So who will she choose to stay with?"Interruptus"
Season 3, Episode 7
Written by David Simkins
Directed by Bruce Seth Green
After the marriage last week, Isabel finally had some alone time with Jesse, or so she thought. To her dismay, Kivar continues to show up where he's not wanted, and this time he's determined to get what he came for. Discovering about Kivar's appearance from Kyle, Max and Michael decide to go after their enemy and kill him once and for all.
Meanwhile in Roswell, Philip Evans is going around asking a lot of questions about Max. First he approaches Liz's father Jeff, and then Jim Valenti in regards to Tess. For some reason, the creators of the show decided to give bigger roles to the parents this season. But what's different now that all of a sudden they've become concerned about their children? So far they have been mostly antagonistic, but it all depends on where and how far they are willing to taking this. It could be an interesting twist to the series, or end up as a disaster.
Furthermore, Liz and Maria find a missing persons flyer at the restaurant, and it turns out that Kivar is in possession of a human body during his visit on Earth. This complicates the matter for Max and Michael, since they cannot harm Kivar while he is still in control of that person, but they have to get to Isabel first and determine a plan of action. Unfortunately, Isabel is having trouble of her own, as it seems that the Vilandra part of her is compelling her to go to Kivar, to give in to what he wants, and she feels completely powerless to resist these urges.
After meeting together, the three of them agree to have Isabel lure Kivar to somewhere secluded, while Michael and Max figure out a way to get him out of the body so they can kill him. The next day, Kivar finds Isabel alone in the garden, and is successful in awakening the Vilandra inside of her. Instead of going along with the plan, she alerts Kivar of Max and Michael's presence, but before he gets rid of them, Michael reveals that he remembers it wasn't Vilandra who killed them, it was actually Kivar who betrayed Vilandra.
In the final minutes of the episode, Kivar takes Vilandra to some kind of a grove and opens a portal -- it's a new mode of transportation that his people have been working on. Before the two can take off, however, Jesse shows up and knocks Kivar down. There is a hint of recognition on her face but Isabel still looks dazed, and she then uses her power to make a branch fall on Jesse, rendering him unconscious. As Kivar and Vilandra approach the gateway, Isabel is back in control again and she warns Kivar that if he comes back, she will kill him herself. She then pushes him into the beam of light, and we see Kivar's presence leaving the body and entering the portal.
Yet again Jesse is the most clueless person and the worst character, (even the guy playing Kivar did a better job than him) although the last thing he remembers happened the day before, so he doesn't question why he was out for such a long period of time. Maria continues to have a small part on the show. She's such an important member to be consistently underused this way. The short fantasy sequence where Isabel reveals her alien identity to Jesse was interesting, but I wonder how much longer will she continue to keep it a secret. With a quicker way to travel between Antar and Earth, it is probably a sure bet that we will see Kivar again. Will Max be able to utilize this new technology since his spaceship is inoperable? Either way -- chalk this up as another mediocre episode.
