Roswell
Compared to the strong showing of Roswell last week, this episode is fairly uneventful, and a bit of a let down as the countdown to Isabel's wedding continues.
"To Have and To Hold"
Season 3, Episode 6
Written by Ronald D. Moore
Directed by Fred K. Keller
This is going to be a shorter review than usual, simply because there just isn't anything really worth mentioning. We basically follow Isabel as she tries to plan her wedding in three short days, and her dreams are plagued by the presence of a mysterious man - someone vaguely familiar to her. (who we later find out is in fact Kivar) Isabel is still at odds with her parents, who disapprove of the marriage and are making it known by not attending or participating in the wedding. But she did at least get Max to agree to be the best man.
Meanwhile, Max and Michael take it upon themselves to do a background check on Jesse - just to make sure he isn't an alien, and that he doesn't have any ulterior motives. Also, Isabel continues to confide in Kyle. You'd think she would be closer to either Liz or Maria, but she seems very comfortable in her relationship with the younger Valenti.
Jesse Ramirez has got to be the dullest character ever in the existence of Roswell. After six episodes I still cannot fathom what his purpose is on the show, and I really hope the writers will start giving him a more definite part than just the love interest of Isabel. Fortunately, the final few minutes of this episode saves it from just being merely a filler. Kivar shows up in person for a quick dance with the bride, perhaps foreshadowing the storm that lies ahead.
Isabel finally gets her wish to marry the man she loves, but if her past decides to make an appearance, is her secret safe from Jesse? What's in store in the future for the Royal kids with their enemy in town? What is the purpose for Kivar's visit? Life in Roswell sure is anything but ordinary.
