Dan Aykroyd's Out There
SCI FI is beginning a new late night talk show hosted by Dan Aykroyd. The show will be a half hour format airing five times weekly. It will appear on the cable channel sometime in the second quarter of this year. The network describes the show as "a cross between Larry King and Charlie Rose - creating an intimate forum for Aykroyd's contagious curiosity, laid-back humor and appropriately open-minded sensibility."
The show will focus on "the wild, the weird and the seemingly unexplainable." It will be an interactive show that will look to get plenty of involvement from fans that visit SCIFI.com. Viewers will be invited to weigh in on topics, ask questions and share comments and personal experiences via e-mail and phone. Members of the community who have questions or comments about such topics as spontaneous human combustion, spirit channeling and alien abductions are invited to contact the show directly at danaykroyd@www.scifi.com.
Aykroyd has had a lifelong fascination with the supernatural and unexplained. Aykroyd's great-grandfather was both a member of the British Society of Psychical Research and a correspondent of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He is of course well known for writing and starring in Ghostbusters. Executive producers on the show include Robert K. Weiss (Sliders, Blues Brothers, Naked Gun), Aykroyd and his brother Peter Aykroyd, himself a bona fide "ghost buster."
