Why do good movie titles get thrown out in favor of really bland ones? This movie for instance was originally called Metal God, which was a pretty cool title. Somewhere along the way though that title was ditched in favor of the bland as vanilla title Rock Star. Bleah.

Anyway, the trailer for this Mark Wahlberg comedy is now online. He plays an office supply salesman moonlighting in a cover band. He absolutely worships the band Steel Dragon, who his band covers. When the lead singer of Steel Dragon leaves, Wahlberg's character gets the chance to step in. The movie is based on real life. When Rob Halford left the band Judas Priest, cover band singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens auditioned for and won the lead singer job. The movie also stars Jennifer Aniston, Timothy Olyphant, Jason Flemyng, Timothy Spall and Dominic West.
