Help us out by clicking to visit our sponsors News for June 19-22, 200022 June, 2000 Death Race 3000 A remake of the 1975 Roger Corman classic Death Race 2000 is in the works. Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner are producing the remake. Jonathon Lawton (Pretty Woman, Under Siege) is writing the script. The director will be none other than Paul Anderson. No not Paul Thomas Anderson, who made Boogie Nights and Magnolia. This will be directed by the same man who brought us great films like Soldier, Event Horizon and Mortal Kombat. Lawton says that the movie will be very much in the same style as the original. That means a campy movie about a race where drivers rack up points by running people down. He is hoping they can convince Sylvester Stallone to appear in the movie to reprise his role from the original. "Machine-Gun Joe is definitely part of the story. It would be a great casting decision." Thanks to Mr. Showbiz.
Under Siege 3 Jonathon Lawton is also working on a second sequel to the Steven Seagal hit Under Siege. Lawton will be directing his own script for Warner Bros. Seagal is already onboard to reprise his role as the world's deadliest chef. This time the action will be on an aircraft carrier. Production should start after Seagal finishes work on Exit Wounds for producer Joel Silver. Thanks to Mr. Showbiz.
21 June, 2000 Charlie's Angels 19 June, 2000 Six Billion Dollar Man The Farrelly brothers are seriously thinking of making a movie version of the 70s classic TV show. In this version Chris Rock will star as the bionic man. Rock would be a recently reconstructed cyborg hero trying to figure out how to control his new parts. Is it just me or does that sound suspiciously like last year's Inspector Gadget? The Farrelly's don't intend to ditch the bionic heros of yesteryear in their movie though. They want Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner to reprise their roles for cameos in the movie. "He's in there. It's 25 years later, and some of his bionic parts are a little rusty, so a new one's made," explains Peter Farrelly. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly.
Crocodile Dundee 3 It's been confirmed. There will be a third installment in the Crocodile Dundee series of movies. It was announced by Queensland Arts Minister Matt Foley that filming would begin this August on the picture. The filming will take place at Movie World Studios on the Gold Coast, 55 miles south of Brisbane in Australia. Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dieter (aka Sprockets) Stick a fork in this project because it's done. Universal has officially put an end to the production. The movie was set to be the studio's main offering for Summer 2001. Unexpectedly writer/star Mike Myers backed out of the project by using right of final approval on the script. In effect he stopped the production because he refused to approve his own script. Got that? Good, explain it to me because I'm having a hard time following Myers' logic. Did I mention he was getting paid $20 million for this? Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter.
Highlander Endgame This barely qualifies as news but an official website has opened for the fourth Highlander movie. Don't get excited though. There's nothing there yet. Godzilla 2000 While we're on the subject of official websites, Sony gave Godzilla 2000's page an overhaul. It carries the theme of the poster and has the trailer on it. Charlie's Angels |
