Well at least it didn't start as a Saturday Night Live skit. SNL writer Matt Piedmont and SNL actor Will Ferrell successfully pitched a story to Disney. Piedmont will write the script and Ferrell will star in the movie.
Ferrell will play "hard-nosed cop" in the 70s. Shot in the line of duty by a pimp, Ferrell's character falls into a coma. He wakes up in the present day and much revived by the long nap proceeds to join with his former partner's daughter to hunt down that pimp. Unfortunately, said pimp has been busy in the interim and is now the biggest crime boss in the city.
