18 October, 2000 Battlefield Earth 2 I, for one, did not find the this movie to be the completely and utterly objectionable. Ridiculous sure, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it as much as say, Wing Commander or Lost in Space. Bad movies, all of them, but with some redeeming qualities. In any case, given the beating this movie took, this is surely noteworthy. At the recent press junket for John Travolta's new movie Lucky Numbers, he was asked if a sequel was still being planned to this summer's collosal bust Battlefield Earth. "Sure. Yeah," he said. "The bottom line is that I feel really good about it. Here I was taking big chances, breaking a new genre," says Travolta. He would go on to claim the movie has become a "cult classic" on the internet. Hmmm... must of missed that website. "My whole career has been based on trying something new. If I don't try something new, I worry," he said. The movie took a savage beating at the hands of the critics and failed bitterly at the box office. Despite that, Travolta is still pleased. "I am so thrilled, believe it or not, at the outcome because I didn't believe I could get it done," he said. "The book stood for something classic and this [sequel] hopefully will too," Travolta added. Thanks to Reuters. Reported by Ultra Magnus.
