The Cat in the Hat

We'd better hope that Universal does a good job turning Dr. Seuss' story How the Grinch Stole Christmas into a movie. The reason is that they are close to a deal that would have them also transforming Seuss' classic story The Cat in the Hat into a movie as well.

If all proceeds as planned, Tim Allen will be playing the miscievous cat. The familiar story is that of the cat with the huge top hat taking apart the home of two children while their parents are out.

The rights to the story had belonged to DreamWorks, who also planned to use Allen in the role. The studio was never able to get the project going and the right reverted to the Seuss estate.
