East Bound and Down

Peyton Reed is close to signing on to direct the road comedy East Bound and Down. The Universal production will be working from a script by American Pie writer Adam Herz. This will be Reed's second feature film. His debut, Bring It On stars Kirsten Dunst and hits theaters August 25.

This movie is described as a modern version of Smokey and the Bandit. The story is of two friends who have to take a truck full of beer and and get it from Texas to Georgia with less than a day to spare to earn a big payday.

There was no word on if Burt Reynolds is up for a part.
