Karaoke Goes to Far

This idea surely appeals to someone but for the life of me I don't know why. Disney is promoting a sing-a-long showing of the movie Evita. You know the one I'm talking about. The one with Madonna and Antonio Banderas. That's right, you can come to the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and sing along with Madonna in this cheerful story. I thought the Rocky Horror Picture Show thing was a bit goofy but this is way past that. I don't even want to know what they'll throw at the screen during this one. For the record, Mary Poppins is available too.

Reasonable Cause

A man on trial for assaulting actor David Spade with a stun gun while in the process of robbing the star's house plead innocent today of the charges. Presumably he claimed innocence based on the fact that he watched Spade's movie Lost & Found and felt that assault was therefore justified. I wouldn' argue.

Thanks to Reuters.

Immense Sympathy

This week the Writers Guild of America began negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers aimed at avoiding a walkout by the writers when their contracts expire May 1. It's hard to know who to sympathize with. On one side we've got writers who get a butt load of money and on the other side there are producers who get a butt load of money. If they strike, both sides lose money. Who is the big loser then? Us, the viewers. We'll be forced to watch a string of repeats and progressively loopier reality TV to compensate. We'll also get to watch a lot of movies rushed through production because of the pending strike. Maybe we're the ones who should go on strike.

Scary Movie 2

Didn't the ads promise no sequels? I would have sworn I saw that. What ever the case, the sequel to Scary Movie is set to start filming next month. On tap this time will be a spoof of Tom Hanks' buddy Wilson from Cast Away. Based on Scary Movie's obsession with dick jokes I'm guessing this will be about a man talking to his own balls.
