An excellent movie demonstrating the cruelty and barbarism of ethnic clensing in Bosnia. The director has captured the true insanity of war. I feel that the movie should have started with the Quaid character set up in his sniper position guarding the bridge. This would have made him a mysterious character whom we would know nothing about until we observed his behavior in the movie. I think adding the beginning about the bomb, the killings in the mosque, and the French Foreign Legion were unnecessary. Without that "cheesy" beginning, the film would have been much more powerful. I also think that making the Quaid character kill innocent people in the mosque may have made him too unsympathetic a character, and made it harder to identify with him. Overall a thought-provoking film.
