Jackie Chan is looking to become more of an actor and less of an action star. The Hong Kong star has become a legend for his jaw dropping stunts and fight scenes but the toll is beginning to build on his aging body. So now he's looking for roles that will take a bit less physical exertion. Along those lines he'll begin shooting for Tuxedo for producer Steven Spielberg on September 10.
"I don't like people always talking about Jackie Chan the action star. I want to be an actor. An actor has a life that goes on forever," said Chan to reporters while promoting Rush Hour 2. He says he plays a cab driver sent to the home of a wealthy man who has slipped into a coma and been hospitalized. Chan's cab driver is there retrieving personal items, but he can't resist slipping on the man's tuxedo. Beyong that Chan wouldn't elaborate on the story.
More acting might require less wear and tear but it will require Chan to work hard on his English and acting skills. "Making an American film, I have to follow the script," he said, adding with a shake of his head and a smile. "English drives me crazy."
