Plot: A small band of travelers crash land on a planet built in the shape of a ring. It is so large that it circles its own star. The castaways must unravel the secrets of this strange world while trying to find a way to get back home. Based on the novel by Larry Niven.

At this point this can only be called rumor but the word from Coming Attractions is that none other than James Cameron of Aliens and Terminator 2 fame has agreed to direct this picture. If so, this is about the best news that fans of Niven's novel could get. Cameron has the skill and clout to make this movie the visual feast that it needs to be.

Special effects wizard is going to be directing a movie adaptation of Larry Niven's highly popular novel Ringworld. Tippett will also produce the picture along with Robert Mandell for Tippet Studios.
The movie tells the story of a small group of humans and aliens sent to explore a bizarre object discovered in space. It is an immense ring surrounding a star. The ring has walls on the edges a thousand miles high that allow it to have an atmosphere. Somebody has built this thing which offers livings space hundreds of times larger than earth. The novel has been a favorite with sci-fi fans for many years. Niven has since written a pair of sequels to the original novel.
