Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Damned) has been cast as Dorian Gray in the film. Gray didn't appear in the original comic but did appear in its sequel. He is a man who mysteriously does not age.
Also, Jason Flemyng (Snatch) has been cast in the dual role of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a.k.a. Mr. Edward Hyde.

FilmForce received word that Roger Moore is under consideration for the role of British secret service agent Campion Bond. And, yes, that character is an ancestor of James Bond, whom Moore portrayed for many years. It would be interesting to pair Moore with Connery, also a former Bond star. In the story, Campion is responsible for assembling the league.

Neither Dorian Gray nor Tom Sawyer appeared in the original series of the comic but they will be appearing in the movie it seems. Sawyer will be an adult and now working as a police officer. The logic here is that Twain's sequel to Tom Sawyer was titled Tom Sawyer, Detective so he could conceivably grow up to be a cop. Gray did appear in the sequel comic. He is the title character of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. He is a man who does not appear to age, although his portrait does.

The Last Comic Site got a hold of the second draft of the script and really didn't like what the saw.
And they didn't improve it one iota. Patrick talked about how there was no period dialogue? Forget that. It would have been nice to have some GOOD dialogue. Instead of all the great setup of the main characters, you get them--and then three of them all pine for Mina. This love quadrilateral, as it were, is terrible stuff. The League as a whole is at each others' throats most of the time (although in that bad Hollywood we-need-conflict way, rather than the delightfully organic way that Moore just lets the characters do their thing) and then of course, typical Hollywood, they all find common ground. When Quatermain starts to bond with Tom Sawyer as a surrogate son-father thing, I wanted to claw my own face off. If you managed to take out all of these dreadful "bonding" scenes between characters and the long-drawn out silly action sequences (including one showing Captain Nemo's mastery of martial arts--Jackie Chan as Nemo, anyone?)--the script would end up being about five pages long.
