Stax, over at FilmForce, reviewed the newest script by John Rogers for this movie.
While I enjoyed John Rogers' revision of Kate Kondell's script, I think the Catwoman project simply needs a new formula to work from (and my hunch is that "formula" is precisely what the studio wants). As long as Catwoman remains so closely tied to Batman Returns, the project will never really establish its own identity, never be allowed to develop its own personality and style. Without that freshness, Catwoman seems to be reliving the same life in each of her subsequent incarnations
They are also reporting that Owen Wilson is up for a role in the film. He would play the male lead, Tom Lone, a former Gotham cop who used to investigate superhero cases. Wilson has been approached but as of yet has not accepted the role.

Stax got a hold of the script and gives it a pretty vigorous beating.
Kondell's script was lame, derivative, and a tremendous letdown for me as a Batman fan. Was it the worst thing I've ever read? Certainly not. I guess those who are unfamiliar with the character might find some entertainment value to it but for fans this particular draft beckons the question "why?" Why does this version of Catwoman need to be made? Why did the character and her story have to be changed so radically? And, most importantly, why did the storyteller employ such a campy approach to the material when the last two Batman films were inarguably ruined by this same method? Hasn't anyone learned from the mistakes of Batman & Robin?! Let me put it this way. You know who'd be a perfect director for Kondell's version of Catwoman? Joel Schumacher. Given this script's campy tone, sketchy plot, broad characterizations, bad one-liners, and its plethora of butt references, Schumacher could really work wonders here.

The last Batman movie may have been a collosal mess but that doesn't mean that Warner Bros. has lost faith in the caped crusader or his world. Evidence of that appeared this week when it was announced that Ashley Judd will take the lead role in a feature movie based on the Catwoman character.
Fans may recall the appeal of a sultry Michelle Pfeiffer in a rubber catsuit as the villainous in Batman Returns. Presumably fans would find Judd similarly appealing in such a costume. The dark knight himself would play a minor role at best.
Warner Bros. is putting the project on the fast track, hoping to have it ready to go at the conclusion of the writers/actors strike later in the year. That makes three Batman themed movies in various stages of production. There is also the Darren Aronofsky take on the Batman: Year One graphic novels and the live action version of the Batman Beyond cartoon.
