Aliens vs. Predator (200?)
Plot: Based on the Dark Horse comic book which pitted the xenomorphs from the Alien movie series against the alien hunters from the Predator movies.

Paul Anderson has stepped up to the plate to rescue this fan favorite project from development hell. The director of such uninspiring films as Soldier, Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil will both write and direct the film.
The project is stacked on levels of other projects. First came the movie Alien which introduced us to the acid blooded xenomorphs who bred in peoples' stomachs. Then came the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film Predator which brought in a race of alien hunters with technology that rendered them nearly invisible. Dark Horse Comics would eventually marry the two creatures in a limited run of comics. Then came the popular video games based on the same idea. Naturally a movie had to follow.
This movie will supposedly focus on a human colony where scientists are experimenting on the two species. One scientist makes the bone head move of hatching Alien eggs to try and create an environment attractive to the Predators.
While the idea certainly holds considerable appeal with fans, I'm more than a little concerned with the choice of Anderson as the director. He has made a long string of films that looked great but suffered in terms of story and character. And yes, even in a movie monster slugfest like this, those are important traits. His recent Resident Evil is perhaps the best example of his style of movie making. It was very carefully shot but that generated a clinical sterility to the film that failed to give it any emotion. Furthermore, the characters were almost completely interchangeable, making it tough to get involved. Hopefully this will be the film that proves he's not a one dimensional filmmaker.
