Dungeons & Dragons
News for January to March 2000:
17 March, 2000
News has been sparse on this film for some time now. Luckily a couple new pictures have popped up to make sure we don't start to forget this project. Donsimus at DNDMovie.com was kind enough to send these in.
"First, we have a new shot of Jeremy and Thora pleading their opposing cases before the council of Mages. I love Jeremy's get-up here. My favorite bad guys are always the ones that have everybody fooled into thinking they are so benevolent. I can just see Irons oozing all this sincerity as he blames Savina for all the nation's ills.
"Our second shot is not a slide from the footage or even a production still..it's Robert Miano lounging off camera in his big comfy chair while waiting for his scene. This is the first shot we've seen of Miano as Azmath, the leader of the Council of Mages. Azmath is firmly in Profion's pocket..if that gives you any hint of how fairly Savina will be treated..hehe."

Donsimus at DNDMovie.com came through with three more great shots for you to check out.

Cirdan checked in with a cool new shot from the movie.
This is Cirdan from the German Dungeons-and-Dragons-Movie-Site.
Today I got a new still from the movie with Ranger Norda (Kristen Wilson). In that pic norda is using a magical means of communication to tell savina that she has succesfully tracked down and captured ridley snails and Elwood
Cheers, Cirdan

Stunt coordinator Graeme Crowther sat down with DNDMovie.com for an interview. He talks in good detail about the sword fights, training, the cast and special effects. Here is an excerpt where he talks about Lee Arenberg's fighting style as the dwarf Elwood.
Lee picked up the fight routines very quickly. For Elwood, we had to develop this dynamic, crazed fighting style with a hint of humor. It works well…he used crack me up any way! He did all his own stunts… often at the last minute. Corey would take him to one side, and convince him to do the stunt himself. We always had a stunt double ready standing by…but we seldom used him. Of course we didn't put Lee into anything he couldn't handle… although I don't think he fancied the horses to much. (laughs) Lee did a great job.
You can read the entire interview here.
We can also show off some new pictures that appeared at Wizards of the Coast.
Thanks to 'Donsimus' for pointing them out.

This nifty little image to your left is the Antius City Thieves Maze. It was created hundreds of years ago and added onto and modified by every guildmaster since. The maze serves as a testing ground for thieves. Our hero Ridley has to make his way through it to secure an item needed for their quest.
The maze was actually built by George Gibbs a Prague soundstage. Only the path that Ridley follows during his trip through the maze was actually built to scale. The rest is a smaller model.

The second picture you see is of Zoe McLellan as the apprentice wizard Marina. The shot is actually from the film so you can get an idea of how she looks in action.
A big thanks to DNDMOVIE.COM for sending them in. Be sure to head over there for more details on McLellan.

A huge article relating to an interview with director Corey Solomon is available over at IGN. There are tons of details about every aspect of the movie and a couple new shots from the movie.

There is a good interview with Justin Whalin, who plays the thief Ridley in the movie. Check out what he had to say about playing the lead.

Even more pictures to see. The first one is a shot of Justin Whalin in full costume waiting to shoot a scene. It kind of looks like he's caring a lunchbox actually. The second shot is Richard O'Brien as the master of the thieves guild.
Thanks to Cirdan for sending them in.

All new pictures from the movie! These are actual stills from the picture. Take a close look at them and admire the high levels of detail in all the costumes. In particular check out the shots of the dwarf Elwood (Lee Arenberg). His axe and armor are particularly impressive. Check out DND Movie for the details on what's going on in these shots.
