New Line and MGM have worked out their differences. New Line is now free to use the title Goldmember for its third Austin Powers film. According to a joint press release, "New Line will be allowed to use the Austin Powers in Goldmember title but all future titles that may be construed as parodies of James Bond titles will be subject to MGM’s approval."
While no details were released on the agreement, it is believed that New Line has agreed to attach a trailer for the 20th James Bond film, Die Another Day, to release of Goldmember.

According to the publicity folks over at New Line, the new title of the film is The Next Installment of Austin Powers. I guess the fight over the name wore out their original thinking...

We've got an interesting report here from 'Baldric' with details on the plot of this latest Austin Powers flick.
Dr. Evil and Mini-Me (Verne Troyer returns) have somehow escaped from a maximum security prison. Subsequently, the duo teams up with the film's title character, Goldmember (described as mysterious yet peculiar). Together they formulate a plan for (what else) world domination. And this particular scheme requires 1) a considerable amount of time-travel, and 2) kidnapping Austin Powers' father, England's eminent master spy, Nigel Powers (Michael Caine). As Austin chases Dr. Evil, Mini-Me and Goldmember through time, he stops in 1975 to "connect" with an old girlfriend, detective Foxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles), and requests her assistance to track the villains and save his father.
