Britney Spears NASCAR Movie
17 June, 2002
What unholy pit of hell did the idea spawn from? Britney Spears has formed a production company, unsurprisingly named Britney Spears Productions, that has signed an agreement with NASCAR to develop a dramatic movie based in the world of NASCAR racing. Jim Hart (Contact) has been hired to write a script.
The movie would feature Spears, fresh of the train wreck of a movie called Crossroads, as the daughter of a successful NASCAR team owner. She uses her "knowledge and experience" of the industry (translation: cleavage) to inspire a washed up driver to return to the sport.
Possibly the most interesting thing about this project, aside from the cringe factor, is that the contract requires that NASCAR races be authentic. So any racing footage in the film will be of actual races. The film is budgeted at $40-50 million, none of which is being provided by NASCAR.
