Greetings Scapers!

A third straight week of new Farscape...frelling sweet! Anyway, it's part three time in the "Liars, Guns & Money" trilogy, so let's recap -- when last we left our intergalactic heroes, mercenaries abounded aboard Moya as part of a scheme to attack the depository and rescue Jothie. Unfortunately, the currency meant to pay the mercs ended up being metal-eating parasites. Bummer. So with Jothie's life in the balance, Crichton willingly turned himself into Scorpius, and D'Argo was reunited with his long-lost son.

"Plan B" -- Original Air Date -- 1.19.01
(Liars, Guns & Money, Part Three)

The episode begins with Crichton in captivity, waiting to be lobotomized, and he's starting to not even care. The implant's control over him is nearly overpowering. Meanwhile, the crew has just watched John's farewell message, since return from Scorpius is unlikely. Aeryn quickly points out, however, that this changes nothing. Instead of rescuing Jothie, now John is in trouble. As per the money -- well, they're breaking into a bank right? No reason why the mercs can't pick up their paydays there.

I could go on, but there really isn't any more plot to discuss. This had to be one of the more straightforward episodes ever. I watched it twice back to back to make sure I wasn't wrong. The set-up was one-third of the show, max. The last two-thirds were comprised by the break-in and escape. Honestly, it was probably a bit too much action, but at least there were some really cool visuals. One in particular was Moya's fly-by of the depository which shattered all the windows in Crichton's chamber. Another was when Talyn (oh yeah, he and Crais decided to help out) demolished the entire building with a pair of blasts. There were also a couple of gruesome moments. Or maybe I'm just easily grossed out by ear gauging, but when the bloodtracker was being questioned by Scorpius and Natira....well, let's just say he found out a none-too-pleasant use for those stinger-like things on Natira's head...

One negative of this episode, however, was that Crichton was tied up nearly the whole time, and not in many of the scenes. I think it became apparent just how necessary it is for him to be the center of the show. The supporting cast is great, but just that - supporting. Crichton (i)is(/i) Farscape.

A couple of minor characters met their end in this episode, and for the second time in three weeks, Scorpius might have bought it -- but I think we all know better. I think Scorpius has at least one more episode in him...remember -- (i)somebody will(/i) buy it next week in the season II finale...

Who will it be?...
Man, I really envy you guys...to not know is such sweet anticipation...
