Greetings Scapers!

It's certainly been awhile, hasn't it? Well, wait no longer. After a three month hiatus, Farscape is back. Season II will be concluded with a three-part story arc called "Liars, Guns & Money" and the season finale, "Die Me, Dichotomy." So without further ado, part one:

"A Not So Simple Plan" (Part One, "Liars, Guns & Money")
Original Air Date - 1.06.01

The last new episode to air was "A Clockwork Nebari", on 9.15.00. But this one seems to continue on from the end of "The Ugly Truth", which aired on 9.8.00, and was notable for being the episode in which Stark seemingly met his demise. (He was "dispersed", remember?)

Zhaan is convinced, however, that Stark survived the execution, and is guiding Moya to where she believes they'll find him. Naturally, the others are a bit skeptical, and D'Argo is pressing hard for Zhaan to turn the ship around, as he is becoming ever more obsessed with finding and rescuing Jothee, his son.

Surely enough, Zhaan is proven right, and Stark is back aboard Moya. He explains that as a noncorporeal entity, his physical form is merely a housing for his spirit, and was thus able to reconstitute himself. Not only that, but he has crucial information about Jothee's slave auction. Of course, to bid at an auction, one must have currency. Especially when slaves only come in lots of 10,000. Fortunately, the ever-resourceful Stark has a plan.

So our merry band of fugitives is going to rob a "shadow depository", basically a bank for crooks. These things never go according to plan, however, and before you know it, Scorpius is hanging about and stuff goes bad.

All the while, Crichton's mental health is worsening as his visions are becoming more frequent, and more powerful. D'Argo is upset at everyone, and especially Crichton, because nobody was into the heist idea until D'Argo got himself captured by going it alone.

This episode had some great visuals. Some really nice shots of Aeryn's prowler flying around the depository and other buildings on the alien world really stood out. What also stood out to me was how ridiculous Zhaan looked with that patch over her eye. Was she trying to look tough? By looking like a pirate? I also have to find a little fault with Scorpius being at the depository at the exact same time as our heroes. I mean, it's a big galaxy! It just seems a bit too contrived for me, especially since they don't really offer a reason for his being there.

Other than those small complaints, however, a pretty good episode. Not great, but good. Natira was a very cool looking alien chick. Definitely reminded me of the alien from Species, though. The episode ends with a truly tense confrontation between Crichton and Scorpius, possibly the best we've seen yet. Scorpius needs John's help to survive, but does Crichton have the mental ability to let him die? Or is the implant's control too strong?

A promising start to a three-parter. Bring on part two.
