Dogburt

Plain and simple, the question that surrounds this film is not the question, “Is it good?” but the question, “Is it a good Tuesday Night Movie?” While the former is a resounding “NO,” the latter, in my opinion, is a borderline “yes.” Perhaps I should have taken into account the fact that no female came out as a warning of the fact that this movie was indeed poor taste material. While the content was old and well used, at least they had the decency, a la “Scream,” to pay homage to other horror films, such as “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” But pod people or not, any school that has Bond girl Famke as a teacher (who incidentally did a mighty fine ‘Kang’ impersonation), and Salma Hayek as the nurse is the kind of school that I want my kids to go to. Well, I’d want to go to, anyway. My kids would probably be the ones who’d get a daily flag-pole experience. My one favorite moment, however, was when Famke and the caffeine pill dealer were on the bus, surrounded by aliens, and the entire audience got excited that THIS scene might be the one where we get to see some skin. In close, it was good to see T2 pop back up, and I’ll always be a huge Shooter McGavin fan, but Usher, please go away.

Want to know the real reason the kids were sniffing drugs in this movie? It was to cover up the bad odor, because it stunk up the theater something fierce. I haven't been this disappointed by a movie since Alien Resurrection. However, after the sensitive Patch Adams, it's nice to get back to our roots with a really bad movie.

This had the potential to be a really bad movie or a really good movie, unfortunately it never found consistency, so it waffled between the two. So I have no choice but to nitpick this movie to death.

First off the boom mike, who was in charge of that thing and were they told to constantly dip it into view of the camera or are they merely incompetent? Why did Famke Janssen's character regain her head afterwards but Jon Stewart's character didn't get his eye or fingers back? Why is that if you kill the queen alien, all the others die? I mean what species could ever survive with that little flaw? How is that you can kill the queen alien with one penful of "scat" but Delilah can snort it and only have some skin problems? I could go on, but why bother?

Red Sonja

I haven't wanted to fall asleep so badly during a film since The English Patient.
