Finishing the Kevin Smith DVD review marathon, we finish up with his 4th film, Dogma. The controversial religious satire. Enjoy!
DOGMA (barebones)
Movie: 8/10
The story revolves around two angels, banished to hell on Earth (Wisconsin, which isn't that bad). They try to make their way back into heaven through a Catholic loophole and with the help of a demon. However, if they do enter heaven, the world will unravel. On the other side of the coin, we have an abortion clinic worker teamed up with two familiar apostles and another angel who must stop the angels from entering heaven. The film isn't bad, the writing and performances are quite good. What bothers me is the direction. I love Smith's work, however I feel that some of his direction (Chris Rock for example) was not very sharp. His ideas look better on paper than on the screen. The cutting of some scenes left me upset also. Not a bad flick though...

Columbia is known for their great transfers, the film simply looks great.
