Arriving shortly after the release of Spider-Man in theaters will be Stan Lee’s Mutants, Monsters & Marvels on DVD. The package presents a nearly two hour long interview between Marvel Comic founder Stan Lee and writer/director Kevin Smith. "I had done an interview with Stan a couple of years ago for Rolling Stone, and it was fantastic, but most of it did not make it into the story because of limited space," Smith said. "It was great to be able to do it again, learn new things and have it all be made available for people to see."
During the interview, Lee answers questions on the creation of Spider-Man, the history of Marvel and Lee's experiences in the comic industry. One segment features the history of the creation of several notable creations of Lee's such as The Hulk, Daredevil and the Silver Surfer. "Comics are definitely getting more respect now and that is mostly because of the movies," Lee said. "Hollywood has started to realize that what you have to do is make all of the characters relevant and believable."
The video will be released on May 14, 2002. Other features are an interview with Lee's wife, a poem written and read by Lee and a behind the scenes featurette.
