DVD Releases for 13 February, 2001

What's up people. UM here, on Tuesday, so that means DVDs. Fortunately, I don't think your collective wallet will take too big a hit this week, although there are quite a few new titles. Take a look:

  1. Get Carter icon -- Well, nobody really seemed to dig this movie but me... oh well, what can you do. I thought it had a really cool look and vibe, but admittedly, it was a little light on action as far as action films go. Sly was definitely badass though, something he hadn't been for a while. For my review on the movie, click here.
  2. Bring It On icon -- While I certainly can't imagine many people wanting to own this one, it makes for a good "girlfriend rental." Not nearly as unwatchable as you'd assume. I mean, it does have Kirsten Dunst. Check out John's review, right here.
  3. The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle icon -- Again, not really that bad. Then again, I love Rocky and Bullwinkle. If you're indifferent, you'll probably just be bored. But Jason Alexander and Rene Russo nailed those voices. Go back and check it out.
  4. Bless the Child icon -- Or just damn the filmmakers of this crapfest to hell. Oh how Kim Basinger has fallen...
  5. Woman on Top icon -- I haven't seen this one yet, and I doubt it's very good, but it does have Penelope Cruz, which means it's rent-worthy.

Others:
Star Trek: The Original Series - Vol. 19 icon & 20 icon, Porky's I & II icon, Revenge of the Nerds I & II icon (I'm betting whoever buys Porky's will be picking up this gem as well), Michael Jordan to the Max icon, Neon Genesis Evangelion icon and of course, My Pick of the Week: Mandy Moore: a Real Story icon.

yeah....

Well, that does it for this week. Highlander fans can rejoice, however, in anticipation of next week's 2-disc Highlander: Endgame release. For a movie that didn't fare so well at the B.O., this DVD is getting the royal treatment. For starters, it'll have the theatrical release on one disc and a supposedly very different cut on the other, featuring a new ending! Well, I'll be sure to let you know what I think about that in about a week.

Til All Are One --
