DVD Releases for 6 February, 2001
Well, we here at TNMC pride ourselves on "mapping the fine line between entertainment and crap." There's no better example of that than this week's batch of new dvds.
- Farscape - Vol. I: Premier/ I,E.T. -- About frelling time, huh? Our favorite intergalactic fugitives are finally getting the digital treatment they deserve. The Good: Season I's first two episodes, along with behind the scenes, intereviews and commentaries. The Bad: just two episodes, and Vol. II doesn't street until March 20. Verdict: Entertainment
- Whipped -- If you blinked, you missed this one in theaters. Batman and I weren't so lucky. A must-have for any film student. For without the bad, you cannot understand what makes something good. Verdict: Crap
- Urban Legends: Final Cut -- A sequel to a bad movie. As if sequels didn't have enough to overcome already. And that's before Joey, er Joseph Lawrence was even added to the cast. Verdict: Crap
- JFK: Special Edition -- Oliver Stone. What else do you need to know? This was back when Kevin Coster was cool. Sort of. A very stacked dvd. Verdict: Entertainment
- Gundam Wing: The Movie - Endless Waltz -- Takes place one year after the end of the animated series. So obviously, not for GW newbies. But if you own the other five GW dvds, this one is probably a must-buy. Verdict: Entertainment
Others:
Rated X (Entertainment), Battle Beyond the Stars (a very dated sci-fi flick that was actually written by John Sayles, and had art direction by a guy called Jim Cameron, but ultimately Crap), Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man (Crap), Double Impact (Crap), Digimon: The Movie (DigiCrap)
And of course, the DVD Pick of the Week:
Wham! -- Best of Wham! (Entertainment & Crap)
Til All Are One --
