It's time to admit to everyone that my purpose and attitude has made a major shift.
Forgive me if I gloat a bit but I did damn well picking the Oscars this year, correctly predicting 20 of 24 categories.
Now that the Oscar predictions are out of the way, let's get to my incredibly long delayed list of the year's best movies. Normally I do a top ten list but this year it becomes a top 20 list. So many movies were so very close to each other in quality that I felt a longer list was necessary to hand out the appropriate levels of praise.
You know you want to know. Don't lie to me.
As usual, my predictions were more accurate than not but nowhere near perfect. My biggest mistakes were in believing there to be far more support behind A History of Violence then actually existed, and greatly under estimating the support for Munich and Good Night, and Good Luck. Let's take a look at the details.
As always, I've waited until the last possible second to do this.
As always I'm running late on my recap of the year. This year I'm going to break this into three articles. Up first is the ten worst movies of the year. Next will be my list of ten runners up for the top ten list. I had such a hard time settling on what movie got the last spot on my top ten list that I felt the need to rank the next ten, just to make it clear what a strong crop of films there were this year.
