Angelina seemed very excited to discuss her character in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider as a fantastical woman full of sensuality and intelligence who's active and dominating while "radiating femininity and affection." She further commented on Lara's ability to combine sex-symbol status with successful charisma in being a "strong woman who doesn't use her sexuality but is sexual." When asked what similarities she sees between her and Lara, AJ responded, "We'll both fight to the death for what we believe in." With this kind of determination, single-celebrity motherhood must be a breeze. "God... it's difficult," she says. "But I'm fortunate - my son is on set with me." Her eyes light up when she speaks of her adopted son, Maddox. She'll need that extra joy when she's roughing it in their brand new home in the jungles of Cambodia. Only one last question met her exit to the press room, "Are you ready to meet your mobbing fans who are screaming for you out there" (speaking of the ball room of 2000 people right next door)? She admits to not having a clue what to expect, but nonetheless, she feels a huge responsibility to them. It's not all about promos to her, she's "here to see all the fans."
And that she did as she stepped from behind the curtains of Ballroom 20 to be immediately blinded by what seemed like a million flashes of light. Piercing screams of "I love you" and "You're gorgeous" shot through the air. As a chaotic question and answer (and just plain fan-boy giddy compliments) session proceeded, Angelina was asked to comment on her desire to pursue other action characters after Lara Croft. Surprisingly her answer leaned toward the negative when she responded that she's just "satisfied with Lara. I love her personality, not just the action." This led her to reveal an interesting tid-bit - Ms. Jolie is scheduled to play Katherine the Great as her next big character. Knowing that Lara Croft, the video game, may be bigger than the actual movie, one curious fan was eager to find out if Angelina, herself, was into gaming. AJ replied that she's "terrible" at the games and thinks "Lara would be too. [We're both] too impatient. The first time I played it I threw it against the wall."
Well, she may not be great at the games, but something she does phenomenally is give back to her fans. Angelina was as sincere as southern apple pie during her entire stay with the ComiConians. All were ecstatic to feel their incredibly enthusiastic love was completely requited. Kudos to you, Angelina Jolie - you're golden.
